Please note: With a discussion of algorithms and neural plasticity, the import of this posting is a thinking man’s discussion of spiritual truth. Be sure to watch the 7-minute YouTube Video linked below to fully understand.
Making a major change in your life is never easy; unless you’re a six-year old.
The Christian author, Len Wilson, explains:
“Jesus breaks into our mundane existence and invites us to become a new creation, which also means to rediscover the joy we originally knew as God’s children. The challenge is that the invitation isn’t to an altar but to a road. We must take a risk and follow.”
He continues by telling the story of Destin Sandlin and the Backwards Bicycle:
“The grooves of our established behaviors are deep. Changing them is a radical job. It’s not just as a person moving their body in a different direction, but more like a flower turning toward the sun, away from the jaded shadows of cynicism and loss.”
Watch this video and you will understand why following Jesus, as an adult, is not as simple as relearning to ride a bike.
