Our Lives, Our Fortunes and Our Sacred Honor

241 years ago last Tuesday, 56 men gathered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and signed the Declaration of Independence.

They signed beneath the following amazing words:

… with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor.

In short, they promised Almighty God, (to whom they looked for protection), and each other, (to whom they made the most solemn promise imaginable), to give their lives, everything they owned, and most prized of all, their honor; to support “this Declaration”.

I will always remember these men, and thank them for the honor of living in the country they gave so much to create.


As we lift our sails above the storms of life, our Father’s love will fill them and His Spirit will comfort us, until the clouds finally part, and the Son breaks through to show us the way Home.

Along the way, avoid the safe harbors and the calm seas.

Jesus Christ calls us to conquer our fears, not cower before them.  

We have vital work to do.  

Lives to improve, and hearts to change.  

He always keeps His promises, and He has promised to return …

And before He does …

And before He does, He will whisper in our hearts:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
